Invasive Insects

The Emerald Ash borer is invasive because they destroy ash trees.  The adult Emerald Ash borer’s colors are dark green, and they measure up to 8.5 mm long and its 1.6 mm wide.  They mostly survive on leaves and ash trees. A female Emerald ash borer will lay 2-3 eggs a week, they lay about 100 eggs a year. A baby Emerald ash borer feeds on barks on trees.

The Asian longhorn beetle is invasive because it eats up the part of the tree that brings water to the tree.  It’s about 1 inch and the length of the antennae is up to 4 inches!  The Asian longhorn beetle has a bout 20 white spots on its body, it takes about 2 years to complete the life cycle.  It feeds on twigs and leaves and it causes death to trees.

An Africanized honey bee is invasive because it is super-duper defensive cause it kill anything that get even near its nest.  It has 28 species of Africanized bees known.  They sometimes kill thing 50 yard in the nests range. Its fear factor is the public, each Africanized honey bees kills 2 peoples a year.  In Brazil they have beekeepers re-domesticated the Africanized bees.
